The Message Mystery

The sun was shining brighter and brighter right into my eyes. Drops of sweat trickled down my forehead and into my eyes. It stung, it stung badly. I loathed this job but I had to do it. In order to buy new good quality shoes that I could not afford out of my pocket money. My shoes are about 7 years old, handed down from all of my brothers. They have got holes on the bottom everywhere I could step on something very risky, like a stone or a small stick that will go through my foot.

I walked through grapevine then grapevine collecting all the nicely ripened grapes and dropped them in my punnet so I can deliver all of them to the winery. I was at the end of a grapevine when, Crash! It was like the sound of a glass bottle breaking. I saw something fall from the beach in the vineyard when the glass broke. I thought it was a big leaf so I turned a blind eye to it.

I was just collecting grapes then I took a step and fell over. My foot was dark red and it was oozing out of my foot. I was in excruciating pain all I could see was blood dripping down my foot and onto the grass. There was glass protruding out of my foot and even that was red. Luckily, there were banana leaves on the ground that I could cover my foot with. I wrapped my foot in banana leaves and decided to go back to the winery.

Before I got up I noticed a yellow piece of paper all ripped up and old. On the page it said, “This is gold, I hope it’s not too old. This shall help your wealth and your health.” Underneath the writing there was a small pouch with a gold nugget inside it. I could not believe my eyes! Never in my life did something like this happen to me.

I did not care about my foot any more. All I did was limp-run to the winery and gave them the punnet. I was extra fast on my bike to reach home early. My family could not have been happier. It was all fun that night. I can say this a million times with no regrets, best day ever!
