A poem about the best game on earth
Played on a green field, with bat and ball,
Between batter and bowler, a brawl,
Teams fighting it out in the middle,
When the next ball bowled is a riddle.
The noise goes ‘thwack!’
With the batting team on the attack,
Next the bowlers’ skill and strategy show,
Then, the crowd asks for more.
From 8 days to 3 hours,
This game has evolved like towers,
However the spirit has stayed the same,
Teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play are the aim.
A game that has made us cheer and sing,
Also, one to make our hearts ring,
Cricket is never only a game,
But a passion, competition and setting a crowd aflame.
